WAFS gave out one grand prize, two first-place prizes, four second-place prizes, and six honorable mentions which were chosen from the more than 700 entries that were submitted by fourth through seventh grade students throughout the state. Winners were selected according to the following criteria: 50 percent message, 25 percent creativity, and 25 percent artistry.

Representatives from the Wisconsin Alliance for Fire Safety and the North Shore Fire Department will honor Casey’s achievement with a special ceremony at Maple Dale on Friday at 9 a.m.
