Obituary: Sophie Grochowski

Sophie Grochowski was a longtime, former resident of Glendale. Beloved wife of the late Raymond J. Grochowski Sr. Loving mother of Susan (Jack) Hale, Raymond (Kathleen) Grosch, John (Holly) Grochowski, Mary Jane (Norman) Pankau, Robert (Judy) Grosch and Mark (Cindy) Grochowski. Proud grandmother of Chad (Karen), Rachael (Jason), Sarah (Kris), Melissa (Nick), Jesse (Jenna), Stacy (Kosta), Tim, Mary, Aaron, Julie, Shelly, and Ryan. Dear sister of Harry (Elaine) Chmiel, Alice (Bob) Fellenz and of the late Steve (Nina) Hopkins, Mary (Tony) Myszewski, John Chmiel and Chester (Caroline) Chmiel.

She is further survived by nine great grandchildren, other relatives and good friends.

Sophie had a true love for her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Sophie was a genuine people person, which was very evident through her 35 years as a waitress at the , where she was able to share her great sense of humor and love for life. She was a charter member at Sophie was always up for a good estate or rummage sale, searching for that special and unique item. She will be deeply missed by her family and all whose lives she touched.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at , corner of Calumet Road and Port Washington Road, Fox Point, followed by the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorials in Sophie’s name may be made to the Badger Home for the Blind, 920 N. Hawley Road, Milwaukee, WI 53208.
