$500 Shopping Spree Botched By Stolen Credit Card

Glendale Police say a Milwaukee man is using a credit card with his name on it but registered to a stolen account number from a Utah man.

A 29-year-old Milwaukee man is accused of using a credit card with his name and a stolen number inscribed on it at Bayshore Mall.

Roual Leon Shaw was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Tuesday with one count of unauthorized use of personal identification. If convicted, he faces up to three years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

On Saturday, Glendale police officers were called to Boston Store after Shaw and another man selected $535 in merchandise and tried to buy the goods using a stolen credit card number taken from a Utah man. Although the credit card had Shaw’s name imprinted on it, the number was to the account under investigation and the store has seen a rash of similar incidents.

After the card was declined several times, Shaw told an employee he would need to call the credit card company, then took the card and left with the other man. Shaw was found in the parking lot in an SUV with the credit card inside.

Shaw is currently being held in Milwaukee County Jail on a $250 signature bond while awaiting trial.
