A Red Lexus Finds Its Way Into a Ditch

Man cited for OWI and returned safely home by police, into wife's custody.

A 53-year-old Whitefish Bay man was arrested by Fox Point police on Monday after driving his red Lexus into a ditch.

Officers arrived to find the vehicle in the ditch, but without a driver. They then found a man walking around near the car; he was later identified the registered owner. He told officers that he was driving from his Whitefish Bay home to . He said while he was looking for his cell phone to call his wife, he lost control of the vehicle.

During their discussion, the other officer noticed an alcohol smell on the man's breath. They asked the man if he'd had anything to drink, and he replied he had consumed two drinks about one and a half hours ago. Police completed the field sobriety test. The man had a blood alcohol content of 0.213.

He was arrested, cited for operating while under the influence, prohibited alcohol consumption and inatenttative driving. An officer transported him to his residence and released him to his wife.
