Bayside Police Catch Man Driving Stolen Car

Suspect is driving his mother's car without her permission when an officer on patrol spots him driving through Bayside.

A 21-year-old Milwaukee man is facing felony charges after he was caught driving a stolen car through Bayside.

Robert Sanders was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Friday with one count of operating a motor vehicle without the consent of the owner. If convicted, he faces up to 3 ½ years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

On March 4, a Bayside police officer was on patrol near North Port Washington Road and West Brown Deer Road when he spotted Sanders driving a Buick Century that had been reported stolen. The officer followed the car until Sanders pulled into a driveway in the 400 block of West Ellsworth Lane and was arrested.

Sanders’ mother reported the car stolen, saying her son had taken it without her permission using an extra set of keys.

Sanders made his initial appearance in court Friday and is currently out of custody while awaiting trial.
