Bizarre High-Speed Police Chase Near Bayshore Mall

Gregan Henry stopped his vehicle several times – but took off as soon as police approached the vehicle.

A 33-year-old Milwaukee man led police on a high-speed chase, topping 65 mph, beginning at Silver Spring Drive and Port Washington Road.

According to a news release from the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office:

A sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle that was driving erratically and had sped past him on eastbound Silver Spring Drive near Port Washington Road at 4:45 a.m. June 28.  The vehicle fled the scene, with the deputy in pursuit, and stopped again at Fairmount Avenue. The driver placed his hands outside the window, but fled again when the deputy and a Whitefish Bay officer approached.

With more Whitefish Bay and Shorewood squadsjoining the pursuit, the vehicle stopped again at Woodruff Avenue and Chateau Place, and the driver – 33-year-old Milwaukee resident Gregan Henry – got out of the car and paced around, ignoring the commands from officers, who had their weapons drawn.

Henry initially dropped to the ground, then ran back into his car and drove to the intersection of Woodruff and Hampton avenues. There, he got out of the car and charged at a Shorewood police officer. Two officers then used their Tasers on him, and he was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for medical clearance.

The pursuit lasted 2.5 miles, with top speeds of 65 mph. Henry has a criminal history that includes convictions for several armed robberies.

The Sheriff's Office will seek charges of recklessly endangering safety, fleeing, resisting/obstructing, and operating while intoxicated. If convicted on all charges, he could serve up to 16 years and 2 months in prison.
