Car Break-in Spree Hit Fox Point, Bayside Last Week

Police received five reports of entry to autos, many to unlocked cars, with Bayside reporting two incidents.

A car break-in spree hit Fox Point last week, with five reported, many to unlocked cars.

According to police:

  • Overnight on Monday, a car parked in the 8100 block of North Seneca Road was entered and more than $2,100 in items stolen. The owner told police a laptop computer, laptop case, backpack and external hard drive were taken during the theft. The owner said he was unsure whether the car was locked.
  • Another car was entered overnight on Monday — this one in the 8000 block of North Seneca Road. The SUV was unlocked, the owner told police, and a $125 Garmin GPS taken from the glove box.
  • Overnight on Tuesday, an unlocked car in the 8100 block of North Navajo Road was entered and $5 in loose change and a credit card taken. The resident told police he was contacted by his credit card company about two suspicious gas purchases on the card, each for $50.
  • Then overnight on Wednesday, an entry to auto occurred in the 7300 block of North Navajo Road. The resident told police he was walking his dog on Thursday morning when he noticed a set of power tools near a tree. They looked familiar, and he checked his car when he returned home to find his tools gone. He said another car on his property was also entered and a $300 camera and change purse containing about $4 taken. It’s unclear whether the cars were unlocked.
  • Lastly, an unlocked car in the 8000 block of North Whitney Road was targeted overnight on Friday. Two shirts in a shopping bag valued at $40 were taken.
Two car break-ins were reported in Bayside, but police aren't releasing details citing an ongoing investigation.
