Crack Pipe Uncovered After Liquor Theft

A woman who stole alcohol from CVS Pharmacy told police she planned to sell the bottles on the street for drug money.

A woman was caught on surveillance camera stealing four bottles of Tanqueray gin from CVS Pharmacy at 9 p.m. Sept. 23. After stashing the bottles in her shoulder bag, a man picked her up in a car and drove away.

Police pulled the vehicle over in the 400 block of Calumet Road and found a glass pipe used to smoke crack cocaine. The woman admitted to smoking crack about 15 minutes earlier. Police searched the male driver, and in his pants, found a syringe and a metal spoon used to cook heroin.

When questioned by police, the woman said she hadn't had a drink in 20 years, and she planned on selling the alcohol to buy more drugs. 

The male driver was charged with his fourth drunken driving offense, operating with a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia. The woman was cited for retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.
