Crime Corner: Preschool Theft, Harrassing Phone Calls and More

Here's the latest from the reports of the Fox Point and Bayside police departments.

Fox Point police cited two women, one from Bayside and one from Fox Point, for unlawful use of a telephone on Dec. 1. Officers were called to , 8683 N Port Washington Rd, just before 6 p.m. after receiving a complaint that harassing telephone calls were being made to the business.

Two females had been involved in a verbal altercation with an employee at the deli and they were then asked to leave. Shortly after, they called the deli a total of 28 times and hung up. Police went to the residence matching the information on the deli's caller ID. One of the woman told police she did not call the deli and hang up, even though police never gave her any information about the hang-up calls. Seven more calls were made between the time police left the residence and returned to Benji's Deli, making a total of 35 hang-up calls.

  • A Starbucks gift card and $100 in cash was reported stolen overnight Dec. 2-3 from Jewish Beginnings Lubavitch Preschool, 6401 N. Santa Monica Blvd., Fox Point.  The items were removed from the money bag that is locked up nightly in a wooden drawer in the reception desk. According to the police report, a secretary stated that the items were removed sometime between 4 p.m. on Dec. 1, and 7:45 a.m. on Dec. 3.

    The school secretary told police that when she arrived to work on Dec. 3,  the key was in the lock of the drawer, the money bag was out of place and its zipper was open. The checks that were in the money bag were not taken. Police say a number of cash thefts have occurred at the preschool over the past few years.
  • Waukesha police apprehended a 20-year-old Milwaukee woman who was wanted on an outstanding warrant by Fox Point police around 6 a.m. Dec. 1. The warrant had been issued for operating a vehicle with a suspended license and without valid identification. Penalties total $278 in fines, or 10 days in jail.
  • Waukesha police arrested a 24-year-old Cudahy man Dec. 1 for an outstanding warrant totaling $139. Fox Point police issued the warrant.
