Crime Corner: Snow Blower Thief Caught in the Act

Reports from Fox Point and Bayside police departments.

On Feb. 1, Fox Point police were called to a home that would have been missing a snow blower if the owner hadn't walked outside in time to scare the thief off.

In the 8400 block of North Port Washington Road, a man was seen pulling a snow blower toward the street at roughly 6 a.m. The blower was dragged from an unlocked, detached garage. The owner said he walked outside when he saw the man walking away with his blower, and the suspect took off. The owner is also missing a $300 Garmin GPS, a $150 TI-89 calculator and a $50 math book from his also-unlocked vehicle. Footprints in the snow led to several other garages, but only one other theft was reported.

That theft occurred about an hour later at the 8400 block of North Foxcroft Lane. This was a red snow blower which was also taken from an unlocked garage, and valued at roughly $300.
