Driver Arrested after Police Find out Car is Stolen

A run of license plates during routine traffic stop reveals car was stolen from Milwaukee.

Fox Point police recovered a car stolen from Milwaukee, after the car was initially pulled over for driving with no headlights Feb. 4.

According to the police report, as an officer was concluding a traffic stop in the 7800 of North Port Washington Road at 5:45 p.m., he observed a oncoming car driving with dimmed headlights and no taillights on.

The officer flipped on his emergency lights and the car pulled over, striking the curb in the process.Β

Police ran the plates on the car, which revealed it was a stolen car. Officers conducted a high-risk stop and put the driver in handcuffs.Β 

The driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent and an open felony warrant, and issued a citation for operating while revoked, failure to yield or stop for an emergency car and defective taillights.
