Drunk Driver Arrested After Close Call With Traffic Island

The woman cited for drunk driving on Port Washington Road last week nearly fell over when asked to step out of her minivan.

An employee at Centennial Bar and Grill had too much to drink before driving home last week.

Fox Point police noticed the woman was possibly impaired when her minivan swerved and braked to avoid hitting a concrete traffic island on Port Washington Road near Calumet Road. She was pulled over at 1:16 a.m. Jan. 27 in the 7200 block of Port Washington Road.

The woman told police she had three scotch drinks before heading home from her workplace, Centennial Bar and Grill in Mequon. When police asked her for proof of insurance, she tried to give the officer a bill from Midas. When asked to perform field sobriety tests, she stumbled out of the vehicle and nearly fell over speaking the officer, according to the police report.

Her blood alcohol level measured 0.11. Police cited her for operating while intoxicated. The woman's age and place of residence were not available in the Fox Point police report.
