Empty Vodka Bottles Found in Drunk Driving Arrest

The Sheboygan man's blood alcohol levels were three times the legal limit when he was arrested Sunday morning on Brown Deer Road.

A 31-year-old Sheboygan man's blood alcohol content was three times the legal limit when he was arrested by Bayside Police early Sunday morning.

Police dispatchers received a report of a drunk driver leaving Open Pantry on Port Washington Road at 1:40 a.m. Sunday. The vehicle drove through a red turn arrow and drove over a raised median at Port Washington Road and Brown Deer Road.

When police approached the vehicle, the man had difficulty removing his driver's license from his wallet. Police found two empty 750 ml bottles of vodka, and a third bottle that was two-thirds empty. They also found a smaller bottle of vodka that was empty.

At first, the man told police that he had not been drinking and that he had received an injection for Crohn’s disease earlier in the night. Later on, the police officer told him "I think you've had too much to drink," and the man agreed, saying "Me too." He also told officers he is in Alcoholics Anonymous, and that "This is my fault."
