Fox Point Cites Attempted Burglar With Trespassing, Littering

Police were able to identify the man because he dropped his wallet and cell phone at the Fox Point Shoppes.

A burglary suspect that ran away from a Fox Point home was later identified by police because he dropped his wallet and cell phone in the JK Lee Black Belt Academy parking lot.

Fox Point police officers responded to the report of an attempted burglary in the 6700 block of Holly Court at 10:05 a.m. Jan. 30. The homeowner told police he was typing at his computer in the kitchen when he saw a man wearing two hoodie sweatshirts crouching next to the Weber grill on his patio. When the homeowner spotted him, the suspect fled westbound into the woods behind the home.

Fox Point police followed the suspect's footprints in the snow, which led to the Fox Point Shoppes, where the man's car had been parked. Police found a wallet and cellphone next to the Union Pacific Railroad line. The wallet contained the man's drivers license and $445 in cash.

When police contacted the man's parole officer, they discovered he had a warrant through the Grafton Police Department. After the attempted burglary in Fox Point, he was later arrested by New Berlin Police for a burglary.

Fox Point issued two trespassing citations – one for being on the patio of the Holly Court home, and another for being on private railroad tracks. Police also cited the man for littering because he left his wallet and his cell phone behind. Police could not arrest the man with burglary because he did not enter the home. He is required to be in Fox Point municipal court on Feb. 20.

Further information about the suspect's age and place of residence were not available in Fox Point police records.
