Fox Point Man Arrested for Third Drunk Driving Offense

Police say the man kept covering his mouth to cover the smell of alcohol on his breath when he was pulled over on Dean Road last week.

A 45-year-old Fox Point man was arrested for his third drunken driving offense on Dean Road last week.

A Fox Point police officer caught the man driving 34 mph in a 25 mph zone in the 8000 block of Regent Road at 2:20 a.m. on Feb. 10. The vehicle then turned east onto Dean Road and accelerated to 38 mph in a 25 mph zone. The vehicle was pulled over in the 900 block of Dean Road.

The man behind the wheel kept placing his hand over his mouth when he was talking to the officer. When the officer asked why, the man said "because I'm nervous." When asked why he was nervous, he said "because you could be ruining my life." At first he told the officer he hadn't been drinking but later admitted to having one beer.

The man, who had two prior OWI conviction on his record, refused a blood draw. He underwent a forced blood draw at St. Mary's Hospital.
