On Oct. 10, the two men went to go purchase marijuana from a man named “Q” in the 2900 block of North 48th Street, but during the deal, the man allegedly pulled a gun on them and tried to rob them. Burks and Wroten then tried to flee the deal, but Q shot at the car three times, hitting both men. They then drove to St. Joseph’s Hospital where they sought medical attention.

Police were called to the hospital where they found Wroten’s 2008 Honda Civic parked in front of the emergency room doors with the window shot out and bullet holes in the side of the car. Police also noticed blood and several baggies of marijuana inside.

Burks told police he and his cousin went to buy marijuana off the man who shot them, but they were not planning to resell it to someone else. Wroten told police he didn’t remember how the baggies of marijuana ended up in the car.

Both men are scheduled to make their initial appearance in court Tuesday.
