He called his father, as requested by police, and while talking with him, the officer noticed the smell of alcohol on the teen’s breath. During a field sobriety test, he denied drinking twice, even though he failed the horizontal gaze nystagmus test. The third time he was asked, he began to deny drinking again, but then stopped and said, “I had one shot of vodka, with my parents.”

He also admitted he’d smoked marijuana from a bong within the last two hours.

They conducted the field sobriety tests at the station due to the snowy-covered roads. According to the report, the teen had a pronounced body shake during the tests. He asked if he could sit down when reciting the alphabet. The officer asked if he felt like he was going to pass out, but he said, “No, I am just shaking.”

Officers patted down the teen down and noticed a small, round container. When asked if he had marijuana, he nodded his head yes, looking down. The green leafy substance in the container tested positive for THC and weighed approximately 0.5 grams. He also had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.10.

He was cited for operating while intoxicated, prohibited alcohol content, unsafe backing and possession of marijuana. He was then released to his father.
