Parents Have Their Kid Arrested After He Steals Visa Card

After a Fox Point teenager's many run-ins with the law, his parents finally decided it was time for an intervention — so they turned him into the cops after he had taken their Visa card.

Around 10 p.m. on Oct. 10, a mother and father stopped into the to report that their 17-year-old son had stolen a Visa debit card and used it twice at an ATM machine.

According to police reports:

The mom said she remembered using the card the previous day around 3 p.m. and on Oct. 10, couldn't find the card anywhere. She checked her online banking records and discovered two ATM transactions — one for $40 and one for $60 at the , 501 W. Brown Deer Rd.

The father said he had contacted their son via text message, asking if he had any idea who may have used the card because police were now involved.

”Yeah, I did, but I didn’t get any money," the boy replied via text. "I found the card in the clean clothes downstairs and I’m not coming home if I’m just gonna get arrested.”

In a following text, he wrote, “I need to pay someone back and I was gonna pay you back, but it wouldn’t let me take money out. I’m sorry.”

Both parents acknowledged many ongoing issues with their son and after he took their Visa card, they decided that they have “had enough” and that he needed to be arrested.

When the boy returned home the following day, his mother called police to have him arrested.

The report says officers found him walking near North Port Washington and Dean Roads. They recognized him from previous contacts and told him they were looking for him in connection with the debit card theft the previous night.

The teen said he was aware of that, and was trying to avoid officers. He said he took the debit card to the BP station and attempted to get money from the ATM to pay a debt. He said he knew the code, but the machine would not dispense any money.

Before police searched him, the teen admitted he marijuana in his pockets. He also had a yellow package of rolling papers in his backpack.

He was cited for theft and possession of 3.5 grams of marijuana, and then released.
