Fox Point Woman Charged With Selling Booze to Kids

Suspect has been cited at least five times in the past year with selling to minors and devised a scheme to allow her to keep doing the sales without getting caught.

A 43-year-old Fox Point woman is facing charges after she got caught selling beer to minors from her Grafton liquor store.

Bohdana Kucheras was charged in Ozaukee County Circuit Court Tuesday with one count of obstructing an officer and one count of fourth offense sales to a minor. If convicted, she could face up to 18 months in prison and $20,000 in fines.

At 8:22 p.m. Dec. 9, a Grafton police officer was surveying Graton Liquor Store, 1310 12th Ave., when he saw two young individuals pull up to the store and go inside. While the vehicle was registered to someone born in 1957, police records indicated minors lived at the same address and one of them had received a citation for underage alcohol possession earlier in the year.

The officer then saw Kucheras come outside with a dolly loaded with five 30-packs of beer and take it over to the rear of the car. The officer then went to look for the two minors and found them inside the cooler of the liquor store.

One of the teens didn’t have identification while the other presented his Grafton High School ID card to the police. The teens said they went to the liquor store so they could buy beer for a party. After she took the cases outside, the teen said Kucheras came back in a hurried manner and told them to hide inside the cooler.

The teen said he had bought alcohol from the store many times before and Kucheras devised a system that would allow her to sell to minors while trying not to get caught where she takes their keys and loads up their car and drives it to another location.

She didn’t execute the plan this way on this occasion, the teen said, because Kucheras said it was too cold out.

Kucheras told officers she had planned to take the beer to her car and drive it to a special order in Shorewood, but couldn’t provide an address to the officer.

Kucharas had been cited by police five times since May for selling alcohol to minors. She will make her initial appearance in court Feb. 8.
