Grafton Man Charged With 4th OWI After Hitting Fence in Bayside
Suspect hit a fence near an I-43 Exit Ramp from Brown Deer Road.
A 67-year-old Grafton man is facing his fourth drunk driving charge after he struck a fence near the I-43 southbound exit at Brown Deer Road.
Robert E. Berggren was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Tuesday with one count of fourth offense OWI and one count of operating a motor vehicle with a prohibited alcohol concentration. If convicted, he could serve up to one year in Milwaukee County Jail.

A officer spotted Berggren’s car parked on the side of the road in the 700 block of Brown Deer Road and also noticed damage to the fence on the exit from the expressway. Berggren also had damage to his vehicle and was then pulled over.
Berggren failed a field sobriety test and had a blood alcohol level of 0.07 at the time of the incident.

He was previously convicted of OWI in 1990, 1991 and 2001. He’s currently being held in jail on $500 cash bond.
