Larsen came to Fox Point after Reck’s band played in a concert in Appleton. The two exchanged a string to text messages about purchasing crack cocaine and heroin, even though Reck heeded caution about using the drug.
On April 24, Reck was found by his girlfriend on the floor of the bathroom in his father’s home in Fox Point. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner determined that Reck died from anoxic brain injury due to acute heroin intoxication. According to a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article, the medical examiner also found street drugs, pharmaceuticals and alcohol in his system.
Because of the mixture of drugs in Reck’s system at the time of his death, Larsen will avoid homicide charges under the state’s Len Bias law. Larsen is charged with one count of manufacture and delivery of heroin, which carries a maximum sentenced of 12 ½ years in prison and $25,000 in fines.
He’s currently free on bail while awaiting trial. He will appear again in court March 30.
