Juveniles Shoot Doves in Fox Point from Garage Roof

Teens used a pellet gun to shoot at doves, killing one of the birds.

Pellet guns used on Fox Point doves led to the arrest of two 16-year-old boys on May 28.

Around 11 a.m., two Fox Point teens were sitting on the roof of a garage in the 400 block of East Spooner Road, shooting a pellet gun. When the officer arrived, he immediately instructed the teens to show their hands and climb down from the roof.

When asked what they were doing, one teen admitted that they were both shooting at birds. The officer asked where the gun was, and they said it was on the roof.

The officer climbed up a small ladder and found a 0.177 caliber pellet gun with a scope lying on the roof. When asked whose it was, one of the teens admitted it was his and he purchased it at Dick’s Sporting Goods for $250.

The officer asked if they had shot any birds, and they pointed to the bushes adjacent to the garage. There was a dead dove that had been shot with the pellet gun.

The mother’s boyfriend was in the residence and when asked by officers, said he had no idea where they were or what they were doing. The teens were cited for discharge of a firearm. Officers found no damage to the homes in the direction of the shots.
