Mailbox Mayhem: Fox Point Resident Chases Driver After Hit-and-Run Collision

Fox Point teen cited for hit-and-run, will pay for mailbox repairs.

You can't back into a mailbox and drive away in Fox Point without repercussions.

A 16-year-old Fox Point teen was issued a citation for hit-and-run after he misjudged the distance between his vehicle and a nearby mailbox and drove off.

Around 8 p.m. May 20, arrived at West Bergen Drive and North Port Washington Road for property damage complaint.

The owner of the mailbox was notified by a neighbor that his mailbox was struck by a silver vehicle that fled northbound on Foxcroft Lane. The owner immediately got in his car and quickly located the silver vehicle, convincing the driver to pull over.

The driver was later identified as a 16-year-old teen from Fox Point who lives on Bradley Road. He told officers that he was driving down Foxcroft Lane and was beginning to pull over near a friend's house and misjudged the distance between the car and the mailbox.

After he struck it, he said he panicked and left the scene because he was unsure what to do. Officers checked the teen's car for damage and noticed a small indentation in the hood of the car, as well as some scratch marks along the right front fender. The teen said the dent in the hood was previous damage, but the scratches were most likely from hitting the mailbox.

He was cited for hit-and-run and agreed to pay for the damages.
