Man Forgets to Tell Bayside Officers About Weed Baggies in Shoe

After discussions in Doctors Park, one man is bailed out by his mom.

Bayside Police responded to a report of a jeep parked in the south end of at 1:16 a.m. Sunday — despite the park closing at 10 p.m.

When officers arrived the driver, a 23-year-old Milwaukee man presented his YMCA card as identification. They said they had come to the park to walk on the beach and were about to leave prior to the officer's arrival.

In his report, the officer said he could smell marijuana coming from inside the vehicle while he spoke to the men. When asked, one man admitted to smoking earlier in the evening, but said he did not posess any at the present time. He offered to let the officer search the vehicle, which they did, but they did not find anything. A Wisconsin Department of Transportation check came back with both subjects showing warrants.

The Milwaukee man was was arrested for three open warrants with Menomonee Falls Police Department, and the passenger, a 25-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for a warrant through Elm Grove Police Department. During the transport to the police station, the passenger said he had something to tell the officer.

“I have weed in my shoe," he said. "I would have told you guys earlier, but I’m high and I forgot I had it.”

The officer said he would recover it once they arrived at the jail facility. When they got there, they recovered three small baggies of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana. Both were cooperative during the arrests and booking.

One man called his mother, who came to post the $331.60 bail, and was released to her. The passenger could not reach anyone to post his bail, so Elm Grove police arrived to take custody of him at 3:45 a.m., trasnporting him to the Waukesha County jail. He was issued a citation for possession of a controlled substance.
