Man Leads Glendale Police On High Speed Chase

Police say a man with a permanent ban from Bayshore was headed there when they tried to pull him over for reckless driving.

A 20-year-old Milwaukee man is accused of trying to flee a Glendale police officer and was only stopped after hitting two different stop sticks during a high-speed chase near Bayshore Town Center.

Bryant B. Oglen Jr. was charged in Milwaukee County Circuit Court Monday with one count of attempting to flee a traffic officer. If convicted, he faces up to 1½ years in prison and $10,000 in fines.

According to the criminal complaint:

At 4:15 p.m. Saturday, Glendale police were called to the Bayshore Town Center on reports of a reckless driver in a blue Chevrolet Impala. They found the car in the 300 block of East Silver Spring Drive and attempted to pull it over, however, it then turned northbound on Bayshore Drive, then into the Kohl’s parking lot and accelerated.

The car then drove westbound in an alley behind the Brass Bell, turned southbound onto North Liddell Avenue, then sped westbound into the Brass Bell parking lot before getting onto West Silver Spring Drive and accelerating to 50 mph and weaving past other cars.

Another officer deployed stop sticks, which Oglen’s car hit. Then he turned southbound on Port Washington Road, hit more stop sticks in the 5500 block, then ran a red light and sped up to 64 mph despite having two flat tires.

Eventually Oglen pulled the car into a parking lot in the 5100 block of Port Washington Road, where he opened the door of the car, but refused to comply with officers' commands until he was taken into custody.

Oglen said he had a suspended driver’s license due to an unpaid fee. He said he also has a permanent ban on going to Bayshore and at the time the chase occurred he was headed to Aldo Shoes in the mall to exchange merchandise for cash.

He’s being held in Milwaukee County Jail while awaiting trial.

Dave, thank you for a thoughtful comment, "...privatize the gains and socialize theRead More losses" gives a lot to think about. I also wish we had looked at restructuring the tax code to cover two unfunded wars.

“The state is only a year out of the recall mess that stalled any real change and any outsideRead More investment.” [WI = Mississippi II] What real change has been stalled? The “Love” Gov. Walker of yours has had his way with passing austerity, Neanderthal budgets, disenfranchising voters, repealing fair wages for women, Act 10, marginally crippling unions, because they invariably support the middle class and Democratic party, putting Billions on the credit card, and then, disingenuously claiming to have “balanced the budget” and created a huge surplus as well, and now – think small government here – is moving forward with ultrasounds for all women contemplating abortion, and we cannot forget the “mine” which, will create 700 low paying permanent jobs for Wisconsinites… all of these masterful initiatives have one thing in common: they are all tied up in the courts, and will not be resolved for years, and, the taxpayers of Wisconsin are all paying for Steve’s love affair with the “Love” Gov. Walker and his serial abortions… What will you say on June 5, 2014, when WI is the same as it is today or worse? I know. “Well, it is only 2-years out of the recall mess…”
