Police: 'Medical Emergency' Was Pot-Related

Police were sent to a Bayside home because a 60-year-old man was possibly having a stroke. But when they got there, they found four older adults and what looked like marijuana.

The request for an ambulance came into authorities on Dec. 8 from the 3200 block of West Manor Lane in Bayside, according to police reports.

The officer who arrived expected to find a man with a medical emergency who was having a stroke but instead encountered the “strong odor of burned marijuana inside,” police reports said.

The officer entered the kitchen and spoke to the 60-year-old man, who had no life-threatening conditions. He then observed “small pieces of a green leafy substance on the kitchen table,” the report said.

According to the police report, “The man admitted to drinking alcohol earlier in the night and when asked if he had smoked any marijuana, he admitted that they had been smoking at the time he became ill.”

The man’s wife and two other people were also inside the home; one of them allegedly had also been smoking marijuana. Police located a glass pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana, two small marijuana cigarettes, and two baggies containing 5.8 grams of marijuana, the report said.

In other recent police news in Bayside:

• On Dec. 12, an officer parked on Port Washington Court observing traffic saw a black Range Rover with registration stickers expired. After pulling over the driver, a 36-year-old Mequon woman, the officer discovered she had an open warrant with Ozaukee County for failure to appear at a civil judgment hearing. She signed a financial disclosure statement and was released. She was cited for driving an unregistered vehicle.
• On Dec. 15, police observed a black Pontiac make an illegal U-turn at West Brown Deer Road and North Port Washington Road. The 42-year-old Kaukauna woman driving said she was lost and was “going to pick up people to take to Chicago.” She was wanted on a warrant for contempt of court from Outagamie County and taken into custody.
• Police also received two reports of suspicious vehicles driving through neighborhoods that didn’t amount to anything and made a number of traffic stops and building checks. They received two complaints of unwanted solicitors and telemarketers.
