Man Plants Truck in Ditch by Fox Point Town Club

This 24-year-old snagged his third OWI after he drove his truck into a ditch near the railroad tracks behind the Fox Point Town Club Sunday. He told police he only had two beers.

A 24-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for his third OWI offense after found him wandering around behind the Fox Point Town Club just before 6 a.m. Sunday. 

According to the report:

Fox Point police were patrolling near the , 9750 N. Santa Monica Blvd., around 5:41 a.m. So when officers saw a vehicle parked with two tires in grassy ditch, they investigated.

While contacting dispatch to tell them his location, the officer noticed a man walking west toward the vehicle, down an embankment from the railroad tracks behind the parking lot. He identified himself with a Mexican ID card and the man tried to explain what he was doing there. Despite a language barrier, the man explained to police he did understand the officers' questions.

He said he drove about five minutes prior to the officers’ arrival to take pictures down the railroad tracks. As he walked toward the officer, he noticed alcohol on the man's breath, he seemed unsteady on his feet and his eyes were glassy and bloodshot.

When asked if he’d had anything to drink, the man admitted to having two beers. When asked if he knew about driving off the edge of the parking lot, the man said he did and was sorry.

After performing the field sobriety test and his admission of drinking earlier that evening, he was arrested for his third OWI. The prior two were in August 2009 and January 2012.

His BAC was 0.15.

He was cited for OWI-third offense and prohibited alcohol concentration, third offense. He was then taken to the Milwaukee County Jail.
