Stolen Briefcase Returned With Electronics Missing

Thief had smashed in victim's window to steal the briefcase, taking a total value of about $1,000.

A 50-year-old Mequon man's briefcase was stolen when someone broke into his car in on Feb. 10 around 11 a.m.

The man told someone smashed his passenger side window and stole his briefcase from the seat. He had parked his vehicle at 10 a.m. and had only been gone for an hour before he returned to find the damage.

Inside the Kenneth Cole Reaction briefcase (valued at $300) was a Dell laptop which belonged to his employer (valued at $700), a MiFi devise, personal bills and credit card statements.

On Feb. 15, the victim called police to let them know that someone had found his briefcase in a parking lot of the Wooden Goose Café, 11402 North Port Washington Rd. in Mequon and returned it to him. The electronics were missing, but his personal documents were recovered.
