NSFD Report: Car Accidents and a Dumpster Fire

The latest reports from the North Shore Fire Department.

The North Shore Fire Department responded to 104 calls for service, including 72 EMS calls and 32 fire and rescue callsΒ , during the week of Dec. 12 through 18.

Here are a few of the calls from Shorewood, Whitefish Bay, Fox Point and Bayside:

Whitefish Bay:

  • A Whitefish Bay and a Sussex woman were One car had front end damage and the air bags had deployed. The other car had a broken windshield. There were no major injuries to the drivers.Β 
  • Around 8:30 p.m. Dec. 15, there was a dumpster fire in the 400 block of E. Silver Spring Dr. NSFD has not determined the cause or origin, however they do not believe there was any suspicious activity.

Fox Point:

  • A car started on fire in the 6900 block of N. Santa Monica Blvd. just outside around 7:25 a.m. on Dec. 12. The driver had extinguished the fire before NSFD arrived. Fire fighters determined the fire started from electrical problems with the car.

Bayside:

  • A car slid off of North Seneca Road and into the ditch just before 9 a.m. on Dec. 17. The car wound up on its side in the ditch, however the driver was already out of the vehicle when fire fighters arrived. They did not need any emergency medical attention.

Shorewood:

  • On Dec. 12 at 12:35 p.m., a family in the 3800 block of N. Newhall St. had used their fire place but had not opened the damper, allowing the smoke to pool near the ceiling. Fire fighters put out the fire and helped ventilate the home.Β 
  • A person was stuck in an elevator in the 3900 block of N. Oakland Ave. at 1:19 p.m. on Dec. 16. However, when fire fighters arrived, they discovered a maintenance crew had just temporarily shut down the power to the elevator. The person had already been released when fire fighters arrived.
