NSFD Report: Eighth-Graders Stuck in Stalled Elevator

The latest reports from the North Shore Fire Department.

The responded to a total of 98 calls for service, 75 EMS calls, and 23 fire and rescue calls from Jan. 30 through Feb. 5 throughout the North Shore.

Here is a summary of the calls from Shorewood and Whitefish Bay. There were no reports this week for Fox Point or Bayside.

Whitefish Bay

  • Two eighth-graders were stuck in an elevator in at 9:45 a.m. Feb. 1. The elevator was stuck on the second floor and both children were safely freed.
  • A Shorewood and Whitefish Bay resident were involved in a car accident on East Henry Clay Street at 5:47 p.m. on Feb. 1. According to the report, there was moderate damage to both front ends. One driver was taken to the hospital, the other refused assistance.

Shorewood

  • On Jan. 30 just before 2 p.m., firefighters found a rubbish fire burning on a man's lawn in the 4500 block of North Bartlett Ave. He was burning clothing and bedding material right on the grass underneath a wooden table.Β 
  • A dumpster was on fire in the 1600 block of East Capitol Drive. An employee went to dump the garbage and saw smoke coming from a dumpster adjacent to the building at 1:43 p.m. on Jan. 31. They also noted juveniles running from the area before the fire was noticed.
