Photo: Maple Dale Student Gets Ride Home with River Hills Police
No, he wasn't getting arrested. This sixth-grader's family bid the highest at the MDIH Bash for one of the top prizes, a ride home with a police officer.
"Are you Luke Hansen?" River Hills Sgt. Michael Gaynor asked. All the other students in the classroom parted like the Red Sea, and Luke came to the door with a big smile on his face.
No, Luke was not being arrested — this middle school student was getting special treatment with a ride home in a police car, along with his sister, Abby. His family bid the highest at the MDIH Bash for one of the top prizes, winning the ride on the last day of school.
After Gaynor offered to help them haul all their last-day-of-school items, they made their way to the police car. They each got to try on an official River Hills Police Department uniform shirt and check out the bullet proof vests. They also received a few police-issue mugs, pens and magnets.
