Police Report: Jimmy Choo Shoe Shell Game

A Fox Point woman thought she had sold her Jimmy Choo shoes to a reputable purchaser on eBay for $400, but when they were supposed to be returned, all she got back was an empty shoe box.

A 31-year-old Fox Point woman tried to sell some shoes on eBay. But when the buyer agreed to return them, she expected more than the empty shoe box.

According to the report:

The woman came into the station on Wednesday to report her missing Choos. She said she had purchased them for $750 for a wedding and only wore them once, so she tried to sell them on eBay.

She was contacted by a "Ms. Lu" regarding the ad and after a string of e-mails, she accepted an offer for $400 for the shoes. Lu made the payment via PayPal and the shoes were shipped to a post office box address in California. A short time later, the Fox Point woman received an email from Lu saying the shoes had a scuff and she didn’t want them. The seller told Lu to send the shoes back.

She said that package was sent back to her previous address in Glendale on June 1. She was able to retrieve the package on June 5 and discovered the box was empty — only a packing material and the empty shoe box were inside. The seller never received payment for the shoes either.
