Police Report: One Liquor Theft Solved, Larger One Remains Open

A woman suspected of stealing a single bottle of Absolut was caught, but a man caught on tape taking seven bottles of Belvedere vodka remains at large.

One woman was cited for theft of a vodka bottle from , but the person suspected of stealing seven of them remained at large this week.

According to police reports, officers responded to CVS, 8661 N. Port Washington Road, just before 7 p.m. July 24 after store employees reported two black females and one black male stealing liquor. An employee told police the suspects were believed to be at the Riverpoint Shopping Center bus stop.

A responding officer spotted the two women at the bus stop and questioned them. The first had no contraband with her. The second, a 26-year-old Brown Deer woman, also denied stealing anything but when she set down her bag with a “clank,” police searched it and found a 1.75 ml bottle of Absolut vodka. It matched the liquor that she was spotted stealing in surveillance footage from the store, and she was cited for theft.

Also missing in the theft were seven bottles of Belvedere vodka, and that same footage showed the black male putting the items in a bag. The store manager confronted the man as he attempted to leave the store and asked to check his bag; she backed away when she felt like he was going to hit her.

He had entered the store five minutes after the women and it was not clear from the reports whether he was associated with them. That incident remains under investigation.
