Woman Drank Bottle of Wine While Driving

A 33-year-old Fox Point woman had cut marks on her wrist and a nearly empty bottle of wine when police pulled her over on a Wednesday morning.

A 33-year-old Fox Point woman was arrested for her second drunken driving offense after she was spotted drinking a bottle of wine on the road.

Fox Point police received a 911 call from the woman's friend, who was receiving text messages from her saying she planned to kill herself. She was also sending photos of cuts on her wrists around 8:30 a.m. on June 22.

Police responded to the woman's apartment, where three bicyclists sleeping in the living room answered the door. The bicyclists said they last saw her when she went to her room to sleep last night, but when they led police to her bedroom door, she was not in the room. Fox Point police called her cell phone, and she agreed to return home.

At the same time, police received a report of the same woman drinking from a bottle of wine while driving. When officers pulled her over, they found cut marks on her left wrist and a nearly empty bottle of sauvignon blanc. The woman, whose blood alcohol content measured 0.16 – twice the legal limit – said she had been drinking in a parking lot.

She was taken to the Milwaukee County Mental Health Complex, but did not stay long before she was discharged and admitted to Milwaukee County Jail.
