'Suspicious' Nicolet Student Tells Officer, 'I Have a Gun'

A Nicolet High School student left the building after acting "suspiciously: Tuesday. When confronted by police officer he said, "I have a gun."

A Nicolet High School student is facing charges authorities say he told the school liaison officer that he had a gun. 

Early Tuesday morning, a student arrived at Nicolet and was given routine instructions by school aide, an email to parents said. The student began to act "suspiciously" and fled to the parking lot. The student was found returning from the I-43 pedestrian tunnel that connects the soccer fields and Nicolet. 

The email sent to parents by Nicolet administrators said in part:

"During the investigation the student stated that he had a gun. The officer drew her weapon and requested back-up in accordance with police department procedure. The student was searched and taken into custody without further incident and no gun was found. The tunnel was then searched and a knife was recovered, which the student later admitted to hiding in the tunnel."

The letter also told parents that Nicolet's district security measures and emergency action plan worked as designed and that there was no threat to the safety of the students or staff.

The student was suspended indefinitely pending a disciplinary hearing.
