Two Charged With Best Buy Thefts

Charges have been filed against a man and a woman caught stealing at Best Buy last week.

According to a police report:

A 23-year-old Milwaukee woman was caught stuffing DVDs into her purse at Best Buy at 4:13 p.m. on Sept. 2. When a Best Buy employee asked her if she needed help, she left the items behind. An employee then contacted police to report the attempted theft.

The woman originally denied any wrongdoing to police, but eventually she admitted that she got spooked by the employee and left the DVDs at the store. Fox Point police also discovered she had an aluminum bag lining her purse – which are known to throw off security alarms.

Her male accomplice, also 23 years old and from Milwaukee, was also placed under arrest. He attempted to run away from the officer, but tripped and fell about 100 yards away.

After searching the vehicle, officers found a television, several DVDs and a scientific calculator – all of which were confiscated. Officers also discovered the woman had given them a fake name, and that she had several warrants, including two felony warrants in Milwaukee and Waukesha counties.

Both suspects have been charged with retail theft and resisting or obstructing an officer.
