Two Drunk Drivers Caught After Underage Party Bust

Two underage males just couldn't leave well enough alone after their underage drinking party was broken up by Bayside cops two weeks ago.

Bayside police stopped at the party house in the 800 block of Brown Deer Road at 12:45 a.m. on May 24, originally to cite some illegally parked vehicles. The officer soon realized more than parking violations were afoot when a young man stumbled out of the house and fell into the garage door.

Bayside police issued underage drinking citations to 12 people at the birthday party. One of the males was so intoxicated he vomited on himself while sitting on a stoop. Bayside police arranged for some of the partygoers to get a sober ride home, while the others agreed to stay at the house overnight.

Just a couple hours later, at 3:07 a.m., a Bayside officer recognized one of the partygoers driving in the 8800 block of Pelham Parkway. The driver, who had a blood alcohol content twice the legal limit earlier in the night, pulled over into a private driveway in the 800 block of Standish Place and voluntarily stuck his hands out the door.

When cops asked him why he didn't stay at home, he said “I don’t know, I’m a dumb ass.” He added that he wanted to take his friend home to get a backpack for work the next day. Back at the police station, the driver's blood alcohol measured 0.11, so he was cited for operating while intoxicated.

When he was released at 4:37 a.m., he called one of his friends from the party to come pick him up. Bayside police immediately recognized the second driver from earlier in the night, because he asked officers for their badge number and questioned their right to be on the property. After that, he went into the house and did not appear again – until showing up at the police station.

Bayside police found the second driver had a blood alcohol level of 0.08, despite signing waiver saying he was sober. He was cited for underage drinking and operating while intoxicated.
