Vacant Home Proves Bad Party Spot for Teens

Six underage teens cited for underage drinking after officers found some hiding in the bushes.

Six teenagers were cited for underage drinking last weekend, but at least they were drinking from the top shelf.

received a call about a possible underage drinking party at 11:49 p.m. Aug. 7 in the 900 block of East Wye Ln. Dispatch said the home was supposed to be vacant. The owner was contacted and he said he was en route to the home.

The statement from the owner said his son came to their current home in River Hills and was obviously intoxicated. He told his father there were several of his friends still at the house on Wye Lane and they had been drinking. His father told officers he tried to gain access to the home, but the bolt was thrown on the front door and he couldn’t get in. The father said no one had permission to be in that home, not even his son.

When the officer arrived, he noticed three men walking from the rear of the house. The 18-year-olds said they were invited by the man's son and denied any drinking. However, while speaking with the three, officers could smell alcohol on their breath, and when they educated the young men that they could tell they had been drinking, it was all over. They all admitted to drinking, and even shared with officers that there was at least one other girl still on the property, they just didn’t know who she was.

Officers went with the homeowner to search the property and found a 17-year-old girl hiding beneath a tree. She immediately admitted to drinking. They also checked out the inside of the home and found a bottle of Grey Goose Vodka, approximately 90 percent empty, in the kitchen.

The River Hills man said he had invited the others there and let them in with a spare set of keys. He also said this was not the first time they’ve used the house for a party.

Another officer found a second girl, also 17, hiding in some bushes, and she had been drinking as well.

Three of the teens were from Whitefish Bay, one from Cedarburg, one from River Hills and one was from Mequon. All were cited for underage drinking.
