Better safe than sorry didn't work out for this Bayside woman, who's purse was stolen from her car despite the fact that she took extra care to hide it.
A 41-year-old Bayside woman parked in the Bayside Middle School parking lot and took extra precautions to hide her purse from plain view before she went for a walk. However, that didn’t deter someone from smashing in her window to grab her hidden purse.
She told police she left her purse underneath a blanket in the back seat while she went for a walk. But when she returned, she found the passenger side rear window had been smashed and her purse was gone, according to the police report.
She told police that the break-in had to have happened sometime between 2:15 and 2:50 p.m. Her purse had $1 in cash and several credit cards, which she cancelled shortly after the theft. No other items were taken from her car.
Police are still investigating.
