Woman Arrested for OWI After Driving Down Wrong Side of Port Washington Road

This is the 23-year-old Milwaukee woman's second OWI.

arrested a 23-year-old Milwaukee woman for OWI just after 3 a.m. on Feb. 26.

Officers were parked in the 200 block of West Calumet Road and noticed a car driving on the wrong side of Port Washington Road. According to the report, the car had a right turn signal blinking, but stopped in the middle of the intersection before continuing straight. The left side tires were also in the fog line.

Police pulled her over in the 7700 block of North Port Washington Road and while explaining the reason for the stop, noticed the strong smell of alcohol on her breath. She admitted to having two, 16-ounce beers earlier that evening and said she was trying to get home. When asked if she realized she was driving on the wrong side of the road, she said, “I don’t know the area.”

Due to the strong smell of alcohol from her breath, her bloodshot and glassy eyes, her admittance to drinking, the erratic driving and her poor performance on the field sobriety tests, she was arrested for OWI.

She had one prior conviction for OWI in 2007. Therefore, she was taken to the hospital for a blood draw. Her blood alcohol content was 0.13.

She was cited for second-offense OWI and prohibited alcohol concentration.
