Wrong-Way Driver Intercepted at Brown Deer On Ramp

This 82-year-old woman is the 31st Wisconsin wrong-way driver this year.

An 82-year-old woman was cited for wrong-way driving Sunday after she was found heading southbound in the northbound lane of Interstate 43. 

Around 5:30 p.m., Bayside's dispatch center received a call reporting the wrong-way driver and a Bayside police officer caught up with her just north of Brown Deer Road. 

According to a press release from the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department, she had gotten on the freeway at the Port Washington off ramp and told officers she was confused. She was cited for Driving Wrong Way-Divided Highway.

A report will be sent to the Department of Transportation to see if she will be required to take a driver license retest the release said.
