A Blast From the Past: Bayside's Golf Course

The Broadmoor Subdivision area off of Fairy Chasm and Regent Roads used to be a golf course in Bayside. What do you remember of the old golf course?

Go back into Bayside history with this aerial photograph (date unknown) showing the old golf course that is now the Broadmoor Subdivision area. The intersection in the lower left hand corner is now N Regent Road and Fairy Chasm.

I live on Waverly Drive, just east of the railraod tracks. During construction of our house in 1978, we found at least a dozen golf balls buried in the ground. Even today if I dig into the soil near the tracks, I may find a ball.

Watching the fireworks on the 4th of July. Going out my backyard to hit a few putts on the 4th green. Walking across the 2 bridges that traversed to the other side of the ravine.

The land subdivision and roads,to the west of the tracks, must have been done about the time the photo was taken. At the top of the photo you can see Port Road, Laramie Lane, Sleepy Hollow and a bit of Ironwood. Looks like a house on the corner of Fairy Chasm and Sleepy Hollow. I'd guess the buildings on the lower left(edge of photo) to be the old bunglow house and garage on the corner of Regent and Ellsworth.

That's hysterical! Very cool, little-known fact about our town!
