CONTEST: Pick Tuesday's Election Winner and Percentage for $50 Gas Card

Predict who will win on Tuesday and also the percentage of votes this person will receive to be eligible to win a $50 or $25 gas card.

Barrett or Walker. Walker or Barrett.

While not everyone will agree on the best choice, most can agree that free gas is good. With that in mind, Patch is conducting a Guess the Percentage contest for Tuesday’s gubernatorial recall election.

To participate, enter in the Comments section of this article the name of the person you think will win Tuesday’s election for governor, along with the percentage of votes that person will receive to the nearest tenth (ex: Scott Walker, 53.4 percent).

The person closest to the correct answer wins a $50 gas card; the runner-up wins a $25 gift card. If there is a tie, a random drawing will choose the winner.

Here are other important details of the contest:

  • Open to legal residents of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia who are 18 and older.
  • To enter, in the Comments section of this article, guess the winner of Tuesday’s gubernatorial recall election and the percentage of votes the winner will receive, to the nearest tenth.
  • All entries must be received by 8 a.m. CST Tuesday, June 5.
  • You may enter one time.
  • One winner will be selected. If more than one person makes the correct guess, the winner will be selected in a random drawing from those entries.
  • One (1) Grand Prize Winner receives a $50 gas card. One (1) First Place Winner receives a $25 gas card.
  • Complete rules are attached to this article.

Bob McLiberal........LOL! I'm soooo sorry for starting that. I know as a common sense Conservative myself how much I would HATE if anybody ever, even for a second, thought I was a morally depraved liberal. Bob, again I apologize.
Lynn Peterson June 2, 2012 at 02:20 am
Scott Walker 51.9%. I kind of hoping Brrett will win, but think Walker will win by a slight percentage.
Cheryl Gibson June 2, 2012 at 02:25 am
Walker 51.8%
Bob McBride June 2, 2012 at 02:40 am
Doesn't bother me at all, Dave.
James, for the record I'm predicting a wellspring of disenchantment over the endless vitriol emanating from supporters of the two frontrunners, producing a last minute flash-mob style protest write-in campaign for Gladys Huber. Gladys pulls it out with 42.8% of the vote, collapses while celebrating her victory at the Glen Cafe and is rushed to the hospital where it's determined that she's not healthy enough to serve. Runner up, Hari Trivedi (who benefitted from an alternate flash-mob write-in protest effort) is declared the victor by default.

Walker 55%
Barrett 54% fraudulent votes 10%
Todd Marohl June 2, 2012 at 03:36 am
You are right, WI people care deeply about workers rights, just not public sector union extortion rights!
James R Hoffa June 2, 2012 at 03:38 am
Excellent - that's 2 for Trivedi now that McLiberal's committed his prediction ;-)
James R Hoffa June 2, 2012 at 03:41 am
@Craig -
Very nice - you're the first to give a prediction on the number of fraudulent votes being cast! So, without the fraud, you have Walker with a win at 65%!
James R Hoffa June 2, 2012 at 03:44 am
@carol -
If only you realized! James Riddle Hoffa was an extremely conservative man. He didn't believe in pubic sector unions and would be greatly disappointed at what the unions have turned into.

CowDung June 8, 2012 at 03:20 pm
Thomas C. Kuhns and The Donny Show made the only picks for 53.1%...
Greg June 8, 2012 at 03:33 pm
I had 53.2% so I am waiting until the GAB posts the official counts.
Jay Sykes June 8, 2012 at 03:56 pm
Do the 'Bob Barker-The Price is Right' rules apply: The closest to the actual retail price, WITHOUT going over.
If so, it's Greg. Is Monty 'Let's make a Deal' Hall available to make the final decision??
Mark Maley (Editor) June 8, 2012 at 04:01 pm
Let me give everyone an update on the contest. Since it is so close, we are going to wait until the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board comes out with its final statewide election results. That should happen by Friday, June 15.
Mark Maley (Editor) June 8, 2012 at 04:18 pm
Here are a few tidbits from the contest....There were 57 total votes and 45 people picked Walker. Of those 45 people, the average Walker percentage of vote was 54.9%.
We had 18 people who picked between 52.0% and 53.9%, so we're going to wait for the GAB to give us the final numbers.
Greg June 8, 2012 at 04:19 pm
Per the GAB site: The G.A.B. will not publish official election results until counties certify the results and the deadline has passed for requesting recounts, likely June 23.
Greg June 8, 2012 at 04:27 pm
And 1 vote for Al Sharpton.
Mark Maley (Editor) June 8, 2012 at 04:33 pm
@Greg: I contacted the GAB and they told me by end of next week, so we'll see. Either way, we'll wait 'till we get the official word and will contact the winners.
Greg June 8, 2012 at 04:34 pm
A contest to predict the total votes won by Trivedi would have been interesting. I would never have guessed that there would be 14,350 people that would throw away their vote.
Greg June 8, 2012 at 04:39 pm
Seeing as how the GAB is known for being a model of efficiency, you are probably correct. But we still have to factor in that they will also need vote totals from Racine Co., so mid September may be a better bet. :)
C T June 8, 2012 at 05:49 pm
So, who is this Al Sharpton you write of? HAHAHAHAHAHA!
Greg June 20, 2012 at 08:16 pm
Still waiting. Mark should have a contest to predict when we will see the results of this contest.
Hang-in-there GAB, we got money on ya.
Greg June 26, 2012 at 12:44 am
Mid September is starting to look possible. The GAB is a complete joke.
Greg June 26, 2012 at 08:14 pm
The latest promise, looks hopeful.
Judge Gerald C. Nichol, designee of the Chairperson of the Government Accountability Board, will certify canvass statements at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at the Offices of the Government Accountability Board, located at 212 East Washington Avenue, 3rd Floor, Madison, Wisconsin. The canvass statements that will be signed are the official results of the Recall Elections held on June 5, 2012 for the offices of Governor, Lt. Governor, and State Senator in District 23.
Matt Schroeder (Editor) July 16, 2012 at 01:03 am
My apologies for being so late in announcing and rewarding the winner. We actually had a tie, as The Donny Show and Thomas Kuhns each guessed 53.1 for Walker. We'll be contacting each of them and giving them a prize — great picking!

Dave, thank you for a thoughtful comment, "...privatize the gains and socialize theRead More losses" gives a lot to think about. I also wish we had looked at restructuring the tax code to cover two unfunded wars.
John Wilson June 15, 2013 at 02:02 pm
“The state is only a year out of the recall mess that stalled any real change and any outsideRead More investment.” [WI = Mississippi II] What real change has been stalled? The “Love” Gov. Walker of yours has had his way with passing austerity, Neanderthal budgets, disenfranchising voters, repealing fair wages for women, Act 10, marginally crippling unions, because they invariably support the middle class and Democratic party, putting Billions on the credit card, and then, disingenuously claiming to have “balanced the budget” and created a huge surplus as well, and now – think small government here – is moving forward with ultrasounds for all women contemplating abortion, and we cannot forget the “mine” which, will create 700 low paying permanent jobs for Wisconsinites… all of these masterful initiatives have one thing in common: they are all tied up in the courts, and will not be resolved for years, and, the taxpayers of Wisconsin are all paying for Steve’s love affair with the “Love” Gov. Walker and his serial abortions… What will you say on June 5, 2014, when WI is the same as it is today or worse? I know. “Well, it is only 2-years out of the recall mess…”

Cry more. Your liberal propaganda is falling on deaf ears.
