Fox Point and Bayside Join Neighbors in Celebrating Halloween Early

Like many other North Shore communities, Fox Point and Bayside will trick-or-treat on Sunday.

Does it really feel like Halloween in the daylight hours on the Sunday before the actual holiday?

In the North Shore, the answer is slowly becoming "yes," as municipal leaders are generally guided by a 10-year non-binding agreement adopted by Milwaukee County municipal leaders last year. The resolution calls for municipalities to set trick-or-treat hours for 1 to 4 p.m. on the Sunday before Halloween.

"I think the idea behind it is to enhance safety and make trick-or-treating more convenient for residents," Fox Point Village Manager Susan Robertson said.

Mitch Nelles of Milwaukee, and a alumnus, says it's time to go back to tradition and have trick-or-treating actually on Halloween.

"Oct. 31 - it's Halloween! Let's bring tradition and fun back! No more over-parenting!" he said in a Facebook post.

Bayside will be hosting a festive after trick-or-treating from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at . There will be a DJ, games and prizes, candy and more.

All other North Shore communities are also sticking with the agreement: Shorewood, Fox Point and Glendale all hunt for candy from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 30; Mequon from 4 to 7 p.m.; and Bayside from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m.
