Higher than Expected Turnout Primary Election

At least one polling place sees steady business on Tuesday.

While election officials only forecast a statewide turnout of 10 percent for Tuesday's primary election, one polling place in Fox Point saw roughly double that figure.

As of 7 p.m., an hour before polls closed, the polling place at the Fox Point Police Department, where residents in Wards 1 through 4 vote, had about a 20 percent turnout, said election official Elizabeth Freedman.

There were three primary races on the ballot, but one resident interviewed at the polls Tuesday night said the county executive race was the most important to him.

"County exec - because I work for the county," Fox Point resident Jim Williams said. "If you want your voice to be heard, that's what you do. You vote."

Another resident said voting was his patriotic duty.
