The Department of Transportation has issued updates on the bridge constructions in Fox Point and Bayside that leaves numerous blaze orange cones scattered along the roadway and tends to slow traffic.
Three bridges that cross Interstate 43 including Green Tree Road, Good Hope Road and Brown Deer Road, have been worked on since the beginning of April and according to a press release by the DOT, have cost $12.5 to update.
The Good Hope and Brown Deer bridges have been completely replaced, totaling roughly 1,500 feet of reconstruction. The Green Tree bridge only required a new epoxy overlay.
Previously, there was only a metal median along I-43, but this has been replaced with a concrete barrier wall. New lighting was installed at both the Good Hope and Brown Deer interchanges as well.
According to the DOT, the work remaining to be completed in includes a short section of concrete barrier wall near the Brown Deer Road interchange, a minor amount of beam guard, miscellaneous concrete islands on Good Hope Road and Brown Deer Road, short sections of curb and gutter, railing work on the Green Tree Road parapet wall, landscaping work, signing and final pavement marking.
Traffic Impacts: The DOT says that there will be single-lane closures occasionally on I-43 during off-peak hours (9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.). The Milwaukee County Sheriff, the Milwaukee County Department of Public Works, the , the and the State Patrol, will still be out to help conduct traffic in an effort to tminimize traffic impacts.
