Indian Creek Prevents Flooding After Storms

In just one week, Fox Point received nearly three inches of rain.

Southeastern Wisconsin got some heavy rain earlier this week, but luckily, Fox Point's Director of Public Works Scott Brandmeier says there were no reports of major flooding in the village, just a few cautious calls.

"We did get some phone calls from residents and property owners, but when we investigated those areas, we had high water levels in the ditch, but nothing that was over-topping the roads," Brandmeier said.

Fox Point has a rain gauge at , and Brandmeier said that from June 18 through June 23, 2.6 inches of rain has fallen.

But despite the quick and heavy rains, the big reason for limited water issues is Indian Creek.

"There was quite a bit of water in the creek, but it served its intended purpose. It held the water until the rain stopped and allowed it to drain out a little more slowly," he said.Β Β

"It prevented flooding of the homes and over-topping onto the road. I did not get any complaints of homes being flooded in that area," he said.
