Nearly 400 Vehicles Visit Bayside Summer Cleanup Event

In addition to collecting thousands of pounds of scrap metal, documents for shredding and garbage, Bayside also collected hundreds of pounds of items for Habitat for Humanity.

The summer Clean-Up Day was held on July 15 and proved to be very successful. While temperatures climbed to the mid-90s, nearly 400 vehicles participated in the event.

A preliminary summary of items collected includes:

  • 8,640 lbs. of scrap metal;

  • 6,304 lbs. of GoodWill hardline items;

  • 3,160 lbs. of GoodWill softline items (clothes, textiles, etc.);

  • 3,000 lbs. of shredding documents;

  • 2.54 tons of recyclables;

  • Three dumpsters of garbage;

  • 294 gallons of latex paint;

  • 350 lbs. of batteries;

  • 47 fluorescent light bulbs;

  • 25 lbs. of prescription drugs;

  • One dumpster of electronics, computer equipment, dehumidifiers, etc.
  • Habitat for Humanity also collected:

    • 200 lbs. of lumber;

    • 200 lbs. of hardware;

  • 100 lbs. of paint;

  • Two riding lawn mowers;

  • Three doors;

  • 100 lb. of carpeting;

  • 100 lbs. of other miscellaneous items.Β
