North Shore Consolidated Dispatch Center Leads Awarded For 'Outstanding Program'

The Consolidated Dispatch Services are projected to save the seven communities and the North Shore Fire Department $4 million over the next 10 years while providing enhanced services.

Administrators from all seven North Shore communities received the "Outstanding Program Award" from the Wisconsin City/County Management Association and Wisconsin Association of Municipal and County Managers, for their joint efforts on the Consolidated Dispatch Center, according to a press release from WCMA.

More from the release.

The WCMA awards program serves to honor and acknowledge outstanding achievement in local government management in the State of Wisconsin. The Outstanding Program Award is designed to recognize outstanding programs that a member has been responsible for creating and/or implementing. Due to the collaborative nature of the program, the Outstanding Program Award commends the contributions of all the communities that represent the North Shore Consolidated Dispatch Services.

These communities and the respective WCMA members (who were involved in the negotiations) are:

  • Village of Brown Deer— Russ Van Gompel
  • Village of Fox Point - Susan Robertson
  • City of Glendale - Dick Maslowski
  • Village of River Hills - Tom Tollaksen
  • Village of Shorewood - Chris Swartz
  • Village of Whitefish Bay - Pat DeGrave
  • Village of Bayside - Andy Pederson
At its new facilities located at the Bayside Village Hall, the North Shore Consolidated Dispatch Services has just completed its first year of operation. Prior to its formation, dispatch services were provided by three separate dispatch centers serving eight communities or organizations.

Discussions began in June 2010 with a seven member subcommittee but ultimately involved eight elected bodies, 56 elected officials, seven municipal managers, eight public safely chiefs and five municipal attorneys.

The Consolidated Dispatch Services are projected to save the seven communities and the North Shore Fire Department $4 million over the next 10 years while providing enhanced services.
