Paving and Plastics: A Few Tips from Village Hall

Village Manager Andy Pederson says it's important to consider what outdoor changes will do to stormwater runoff.

Adding a Hard Surface?

Are you planning on repaving your driveway, adding a sidewalk, or even putting a deck in your backyard?  Adding an impervious surface to your property can drastically change the pattern of stormwater runoff, which can inadvertently affect you and your neighbor’s property.  If you planning on making any of these changes, you will need to apply for an impervious surface permit with the village.

By applying for a permit, you will ensure that the village has a chance to examine the property and recommend any drainage adjustments.  To find out whether you should apply for a permit, or get more information, simply stop in at Village Hall today.

Puzzled By Plastics?

Residents sometimes have questions about which plastics can be recycled and which should go into the trash.  Plastic materials are coded #1 - #7, and are represented by a triangle with the number in the middle.  Please recycle all plastics, #1 - #7.  For more information on residential recycling, visit the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources website here.
